Ever wonder how far you can put your USB peripheral from your PC? How many extenders can you add to a USB before there is simply too much cable loss. The answer is fairly simple with USB 2.0, its 5 meters (about 16 feet) So you can’t just plug in a bunch of USB extender cables and hope it works.
You would have to introduce a powered USB hub to extend any further. Or another option is what’s called an Active Extension Cable. An active extension cable has built in electronics which amplify and repeat the signal and allow you to go up to 30 meters (about 97 feet).
